Should factions return?
Yes, but keep them the way they are now (with the added monsters of course).

What are your oppinions about factions for G4? I really liked this grouping system and would be very happy to see it return, although I would make a few slight changes (Godzilla 1954 as a Mutant and Titanosaurus as an Alien would be a preferance of mine.

I think there should be no 'pre-set' factions. I believe you should simply play as your character starting with even affinity for all of them - they don't attack you, but they don't defend you - and once you start fighting and everything, you gain a faction.

I was personally thinking the same about Titanosaurus, going under mind control.

But actual existing factions would be needed too. 'Aliens', 'Defenders, 'GDF', 'Mutants' and '???'

'???' would be secret characters like Godzilla 1954 and Godzilla 1990s, who are hard to decide, plus Titano and other hard-to-pick.

The thing I have about Titanosaurus and Battra being under Mutants is that they just don't belong. Look at all the other Mutants. Have any of them allied with other monsters? No. That's what the Mutants are supposed to be, right? Mindless rampaging beast who do not have allies. Battra has allied with Mothra and if I am not mistaken, was orignally created to save the Earth (it's been a while since Iv'e seen Godzilla vs. Mothra). Therefore, he should be an Earth Defender.
Now Titanosaurus wasn't even Mutated! All other monsters in the Mutant faction are Mutations of some kind. Titanosaurus has allied with another monster before, but guess who it was! MECHAGODZILLA!! In that case, Titanosaurus should be under the Aliens because he has helped an Alien invasion in the movies.
On the other hand, Godzilla 1954 should be a Mutant. All other Earth Defenders have either A: Helped defend the Earth in some way from a threat or B: Have allied with other "Earth friendly" monsters. Godzilla 1954 has never done this. However, he was Mutated and tried to destroy Tokyo and in Gigantis, he did not defend the Earth against Anguirus, did he? No, he was just battling Anguirus for title of "ultimate lifeform" so to speak. A very Mutant characteristic! So, Godzilla 1954 does not belong in the Earth Defenders after all.
Now you might be asking: doesn't that mean Godzilla 2000 is a Mutant to? Well techincly, no. Godzilla 2000, while he tried to destroy Japan, focussed more on defeating Orga. Unlike Godzilla 1954, Godzilla 2000 was actually trying to help save the Earth from an Alien, not battle it for world domination.
For those who think Megalon does not belong in the Alien faction, it actually makes more sense for him to be there. All Alien monsters have either allied with an Alien monster or has been under control of an Alien race. Megalon has allied with Gigan and while you might think he would be a Mutant, that alliance rules him out. If he had never helped the Aliens, he would fit much better under the Aliens.
Sorry for the long, endless post, just telling you my opinions about where monsters belong. Feel free to oppose any opinions if you don't agree.

^ Titanosaurus was mind controlled, and Battra turned evil...some how. The point is, you can be created for the greatest intentions...and turn out to be the most evil thing ever.

I think G54 and G90s were just sorted under EDF because it's the 'Free' faction, and since they don't go in Story mode, their factions don't really count.

I think Megalon fits under aliens, but they should give him a different story. The Seatopians seemed to be kind of like people who wanted to kill those who made the Hydrogen bomb to destroy Earth. (My memory is very foggy though) and would more likely want to defend Earth. But Megalon "fits in" better with teh aliens.

^ Yea - I can see the choice for Megalon being under alien and he fits well, but unless they make a movie that allies him with Aliens, I say he'd fit best as Mutants.

I also forgot to add, if I remember Battra was evil the whole time, it's just that he happened to turn good at a point to destroy the asteroid. With Godzilla pwning him, he couldn't do so.
